Wreck diving is one of the greatest underwater adventures. But diving on and inside sunken wrecks can be quite hazardous. The PADI Wreck Diver Course covers aspects of practical knowledge, raises awareness of social and legal issues, plus educates divers in wreck diving techniques that makes wreck diving, a worthwhile pastime.
In order to enroll to the PADI Wreck Diver Course, you must have reached the age of 15 years and be in the possession of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certificate or equivalent.
This course is run over 2 days and includes the knowledge development and 4 open water dives.
There are many different types of wrecks, some of which are protected by law that guard their historical and cultural significance. Your training starts by reviewing guidelines for researching and respecting wrecks.
You will learn all safety consideration needed to safely navigate and explore any wreck. You will learn to map a wreck and how to use this map or any available schematics to plant penetration routes. You will practice the use of lines, reels and lights to safely penetrate a wreck and communicate with your buddy You will look at progressive penetration methods. You instructor will show you the techniques to avoid kicking up silt or disturbing the wreck and its inhabitants, including fining techniques required to dive inside a wreck. You will practice to spot hazards, point of interest and potential penetration points. You will also practice to carry out, stage and retrieve a bail-out cylinder safely for the team to use in an emergency.
There are many sunken wrecks scattered on the sand and rock bottom of the Red Sea. Armed with the right equipment and proper training, touching down onto the deck of a sunken wreck will unlock a world of diving you never thought possible.
The PADI Wreck Diver Course will also count forward for the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
