PADI Assistant Instructor
PADI Assistant Instructor
PADI Assistant Instructor course duration: 7 – 10 days
Not many divers realize that you can actually do the PADI Assistant Instructor Course on its own. However, you may need some more teaching practice or you need a refresh because your PADI Divemaster Course was done a while ago.
So, taking the PADI Assistant Instructor Course as a stand-alone course is a great way to find out of being an Instructor is really what you want to do.
In order to participate in the PADI Assistant Instructor Course, you need to be a certified PADI Divemaster. Also, you should have completed the Emergency First Response (CPR and First Aid) successfully within the last 24 months. And be in the possession of a current medical certificate.
The PADI AI Course is typically run over 7 to 10 days. So, a PADI Assistant Instructor will be able to assist Instructors on courses more thoroughly. Also will be allowed to teach the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty Course. And the PADI Project AWARE Specialty Course independently.
The PADI AI Course is actually the first portion of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC).
During the course, you will build upon your abilities to organize and supervise scuba diving activities. But at the same time, you will start to concentrate on developing teaching skills.
The PADI Assistant Instructor Course consists of three parts:
– Knowledge development through online self-study and presentations.
– Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops, and presentations.
– Open water workshops, rescue assessment, and candidate presentations.
Therefore these workshops and presentations will prepare you to become a PADI Assistant Instructor. And in addition to the responsibilities and duties you already have as a Divemaster, you will be able to do the following:
- Teach knowledge development presentations under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
- In confined water, demonstrate initial skills training under the direct supervision of a PADI Instructor.
- Evaluate open water surface skills during the PADI Open Water course under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor.
- Teach and certify PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Divers under the direction of a PADI Instructor.
