Duration: 2 days

The PADI Drift Diver Course is your ticket to exploring even more of our incredible dive sites in the Red Sea. It introduces you to a new style of diving and shows you how to enjoy diving with currents by “going with the flow”.

When diving in areas that have a current, there is no sense in fighting it, just make you dive go with the current. As we call it a drift dive.

But with this type of diving come special procedures and techniques that you need to know so you can maximize your safety and fun underwater and that is what this course is all about.

In order to apply to the PADI Drift Diver Course, you need to have finished successfully the PADI Open Water Diver Course and be at least 12 years old.

This course is run over a theory session and 2 open water dives in one day.

During this course you will learn how to plan and organize a drift dive. Procedures to follow and techniques to consider, will be explained by your instructor. You will receive an overview of the problems and hazards that may occur while making a drift dive and also how to manage and solve them.

You will get an introduction to drift diving equipment, such as floats, lines and reels.

You will learn how to control your buoyancy, to navigate and to communicate while executing a drift dive. Your instructor will go into detail in the causes and effects of selecting a dive site for a drift dive and you will receive an overview of the different aquatic currents. What is also important while drift diving, is to know how to stay close to your buddy or group.

Above all your PADI Drift Diver Specialty certificate will also count toward the 5 certifications you need to become a PADI Master Scuba Diver.

The fun part of drift diving is that it is approximately effortless and relaxing. You simply glide along and enjoy the myriad of tropical fishes and amazing underwater sceneries while the current does the work.
