It happens, people accidentally drop things in the water, even while scuba diving. If you ever want to find something you or another person dropped in the water, then the PADI Search and Recovery Diver Course can help you with it. It will teach you effective ways to search for objects underwater that increase your chances of succeeding in finding it. In addition you will also the good and better methods to bring up small, large or strange items.

If you want to participate to the PADI Search and Recovery Diver Course, you must be 12 years or older and have succeeded the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course. PADI Open Water Divers with a PADI Underwater Navigation certificate also qualify.  

The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Course can be done in two days. This course consists of two parts. The knowledge development will be held in our classroom or you can do it at your own peace from home. For the practical session, you will make 4 open water dives in order to practice and execute what you have learned.

The PADI Search and Recovery Diver Course teaches you how to set up search patterns to look for and find objects underwater. Once you have found them, you will learn how to use underwater lift bags to bring it to the surface safely.

This course will familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques and hazards of searching and retrieving things underwater.

Your instructor will teach you how to gather information and resources so you can plan carefully a search. You will practice swimming search patterns using your compass and by natural navigation. You will learn various search patterns to locate small and large objects using lines and reels. Your instructor will explain you how to use a lift bag for large and heavy objects and the different recovery methods. Proper techniques and safety considerations for the recovery of objects using various lifting devices, is also included in the course. You will also plan a search operation based on facts gathered about a lost object prior to the dive.
